On the wall

Well, I got my first photograph printed to have framed and put on my wall. I was also fortunate enough to be able to get it signed by 4 veterans from Easy Company for a small fee while at an event they were attending.

Anyway, here is a pic of it on the wall, looks a bit odd cos taking pics through glass never works well unless you have the right kit handy :-)

C-47 Skytrains

A bigger version of the image can be seen by clicking here.

The print is signed by the following veterans:

Corporal Herb ‘Jr’ Suerth
Private Bill Wingett
Colonel Ed Shames
Sergeant Ed Tipper

Quite pleased with the outcome :-) Must get more stuff printed!

Free CT Scan!

Woohoo! I seem to have wangled a CT scan on the NHS after trying to deal with the prospect of having to pay for it privately (£560!!). Then, I got a call this morning (2 days after being told I could have it) and the CT scan is booked for this Wednesday morning!!!!

So, don’t eat anything for 4 hours beforehand and arrive with a full bladder…

I have “arrived with  a full bladder” before, only to be made to wait 30mins for my appointment with my legs crossed and an eye on the khazi!

Hopefully things will run more smoothly this time as I will be expected to sit very very still for 15 mins with a full bladder! Interesting!

This is a significant step on the ladder to sorting out my kidney stone issue and getting my Class 2 medical!

New Website

Last week I designed myself a new website for my photography work, I started off from scratch in textpad and apart from the Simpleviewer gallery which I have bought a copy of the design, layout and coding is all mine.

I am quite pleased given this is my first crack at table-less design!

Still flying, Still Taking Pics, Still No medical

I haven’t updated this in a long time (again…) so here goes.

The CAA are still playing silly charlies with my medical paperwork and I am still chasing them every week.. Hopefully I will get something sorted soon as my instructor seems keen to get me to solo.

I went flying yesterday to do some more circuit bashing having gone a week or so ago. This was after a 2 month break in flying and last week I flew dreadfully. I was much happier this week and pulled off some rather pleasant landings which was good.

I went to Duxford a week ago yesterday and Old Warden to see an evening display the day before (17th / 18th May). These were my first of the season and I had an excellent time. I had hired a canon EF 300mm F4 IS L lens and a 1.4 teleconverter which proved to be an excellent combination indeed! The pictures can be seen on my Flickr as usual - please go check them out!

My next hire I pick up tomorrow, which is the behemoth EF300mm f2.8 L lens (and a 1.4 Teleconverter) which I will be using this weekend to take more pictures of a particular aircraft that I am very fond of.

The aim of hiring the lenses is to establish which I should buy - the prices are significantly different so I wanted to try both and see. That said, I really want a 400mm DO - but these realllllllly are expensive!
